Therapy for Couples

In couples counseling, we’ll work toward creating new patterns of interaction and bonding experiences that help you and your partner feel more connected.

We’ll identify the patterns and cycles in your relationship that create and maintain distress, making it hard to feel safe, be vulnerable, and work as a team. When emotional responsiveness and engagement seem to be missing, we tend toward a fight-or-flight response—some of us “fight” for connection while others withdraw in hopes of keeping conflict down. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a couple therapy model that emphasizes transforming emotional experiences and strengthening relationships through creating more secure bonds, we’ll work toward more emotional availability, accessibility, responsiveness, and engagement.

With your bond as a couple strengthened, you are empowered to collaboratively develop new approaches to challenges within your relationship and in your lives. You’ll find yourselves naturally engaged in new patterns that support and expand your sense of connectedness with each other, further strengthening your bond and deepening the intimacy of your relationship.
