About Mai

Mai Le, MFT (license # LMFT23656) has a collaborative, interactive style and integrative approach with a focus on developing authenticity, vitality, and resources for meeting life’s challenges. Mai works with individuals, and with couples at all stages of their relationships.

In her work, Mai draws on her somatic and experiential training, as well as a number of relational (attachment-based) models. Her bicultural background and immigrant experience inform her nuanced perspective and deep insight. This enriches her work with people who are navigating the complexities of any kind of diversity, assimilation, or otherness.

Mai has worked successfully with people dealing with life transitions, cross-cultural issues, and a wide variety of concerns as well as with mixed-race and LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. With couples, Mai uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a model that emphasizes transforming emotional experiences and strengthening relationships through creating more secure bonds.

Mai has been in private practice since 1987 and holds a degree in counseling from San Francisco State University. She has been an orals examiner for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, and has supervised interns in her practice and at various Bay Area training centers.
